If You Do Remember,Then You Are My People

The best burgers and that awesome Root Beer. I seem to remember it coming in a Hillbilly jug. Does anyone else remember that or did my mind just invent it? Every small town in Canada has an A&W.

My hometown used to have one... If you went inside, there was a phone with a special little order button and you made your order on the phone and they'd bring it to you... MUCH different than their more fast food oriented locations nowadays...... Course my hometown WOULD have one like Canada, as I'm from Michigan... LOL

Yeah, we have A&W mixed with KFC now, which is nowhere close to the same thing as the drive-up. Sonic kind of took that over. At least if you go into most KFC&Ws you can get your root beer in a frosty mug. That experience is worth not doing the drive-thru, I promise you.

We lived in a town with one when I was in kindergarten, in Wisconsin. I remember big plastic jugs full of root beer. We moved away after one year and I don't think I ever saw a drive-in A&W again.

The next town over where I grew up in Ohio had an A&W and we got the root beer in gallon milk jugs. Brings back a lot of nice memories.

Yup - until the last 20 years or so the one on 17 Ave SE in Calgary still came out to your car. God I loved that place.

I wouldn't say I "remember" it so much as I've seen so many places since try and cash in on the nostalgia of a '50s style car side diner served by hot waitresses on roller skates. That last part should be mandatory at every restaurant!
