Because he spoke their language.

Granted he's making an impressive effort for someone who doesn't have "Urban Dictionary". I've give him points for at least trying. That's more than I can give most other adults who try to speak in the hip, fly speech that these kids are using on their text phones these days.

You mean the illiterate text messages? Twitter is going to ruin a generation of writers who think that being pithy at 140 characters is all you need to make an impact. BAH!

Cal and Machete don't text.

I heard an interesting story about Jack Webb on the Dana Gould podcast. Apparently, they would have to shoot all the close-ups and two-shots of Dragnet before lunch because after lunch Joe Friday was too plastered to say any of his lines. They did the far-away shots after lunch if he was able to walk straight. Eventually, the crew started turning the clocks back so that they could get enough filming done before lunch which was occurring later and later in the day.

Joe was a boozer...but that makes him the biggest hypocrite of the all. I once saw him take a kid to task for one joint. I will watch that show with fresh eyes next time. Do as I say not as I do, eh Joe?
