Galactus And The Surfer

I have felt for a long time that there is a great Galactus/Silver Surfer story out there still waiting to be told. They are such epic characters that have this great symbiotic relationship that doesn't get explored enough. Galactus is a force of nature that needs the worst of his demons reigned in by the humanity that IS the Surfer. The trick is creating the situation that finds both of them fighting for their place in a universe that has worse things than the two of them to deal with. Is making something as powerful as Galactus into just an ordinary menace a good place to begin? Given the right set of circumstances, could Galactus be convinced to sacrifice himself for the greater good? Would that be something that the Silver Surfer would support or fight against. Billions of years from now such a debate may come about at the far edge of known space. A rip in the fabric of space time would be the perfect site for a space weary Galactus to arrive at. To the sentient life he is looked upon as a savior who would mend the rift. Only the Silver Surfer suspect that instead of feeding on the excess energy and thus sealing the rift, Galactus is there to release his last energy, accomplishing the same thing but eliminating himself in the process. Is a Universe without a devourer one that we want to live in?
